A large part of being a successful cook is to know what pots and pans to use. There are so many to choose from these days that it is not always easy to know which are best. They will all have met food hygiene guidelines and each type claim to give you better results with your cooking!
There are glass, ceramic, metal, and silicone ones on the market. Some will be better suited for one particular food whilst others will be good ‘all rounders’.
One of the best ways of deciding is to read the reviews of our top chefs. They will tell you which are the best for cooking certain dishes and which ones to avoid altogether! However, a lot of it will come down to basic choice. What type of dishes or saucepans do you prefer to use? We all have our own way of doing things and much of what you choose will be tied up with your own personal preference.
It’s just the same as the type of cooker you are accustomed to; some people will swear by gas whilst others would rather they had electric. A lot of it is simply down to you and what you are happiest with!

I have used the same saucepans for about fifteen years. They may look a little worse for wear, but they are great for cooking with.

There are so many different sorts of dishes and saucepans that I always worry if I have picked the right ones or not!
Do manufacturers try to confuse us all on purpose?
