The Importance of Washing Up Properly.

[reblogged from flickr]

Ever been to a cafe and found a dirty mark on your fork?  Well, you shouldn’t have done!  You should always show any dirty cutlery to a member of staff and they should replace without any hesitation.  The only delay you should experience is a brief one whilst they apologise for it happening at all!

Washing up properly is just as important as preparing food in a clean and hygienic environment.  If pots and pans are not washed in a proper manner then they will harbour all sorts of nasty germs.  It does not matter whether an automatic dishwasher has been used or if someone has cleaned the pots by hand; they should be clean enough to, well, to eat your dinner off!

The whole purpose of washing up is to clean everything properly.  Excess food should always be scraped off before you even start.  Your water should always be changed if it begins to look grotty and it is a good practice to rinse the soapy suds from your pots with fresh hot water.

Few of us will actually enjoy washing up, but we should all understand that it is another crucial part of basic food hygiene.

I hate washing up and I am planning on buying a dishwasher as soon as I can!
But when I do the pots, I always make sure they are washed properly. I hate finding bits of food on things!

  2. Jarvis Says:

When my dad does the washing up, he never scrapes the food off the plates and he never changes the water in his bowl. This means that the water looks like a gravy dinner within five minutes.
Personally, I think this is just a ploy so my mum doesn’t ask him to do the washing up!
