Preparing Food For Packed Lunches

Consider all the things you touch with your hands every day, before preparing your dinner. When you bear in mind that everything is covered in bacteria, it becomes immediately apparent how serious a source of food contamination your hands are. For this reason, it is vital you wash your hands before starting food preparation and try not to handle food any more than is necessary. It is worth mentioning that it is also important to cover all cuts before preparing food.

Chopping Board

Once your hands are clean, it is important that you keep the kitchen clean as you prepare the food, to prevent cross contamination from one food or area to another. Always use a different chopping board for different foods – especially for raw and cooked foods! It is advisable not to use a wooden chopping board for cutting raw meat, because bacteria and pieces of meat can get stuck in the nooks and grooves. Make sure you also clean and dry all utensils between the preparation of separate ingredients. Do all of this and you’ll drastically improve your levels of food hygiene.
