Food Poisoning
I expect most readers will have had food poisoning in their time, or known somebody who has. In fact, with 80,000 people reporting cases of food suffering every year, it’s far more prevalent than many people realise.
There are a wide range of symptoms of food poisoning, all of which are pretty horrific. The hours of agonising stomach cramps are probably the worst part, though there’s not much positive that can be said about the vomiting, diarrhoea and constant nausea either! All of these ailments pale in comparison to the more severe symptoms of food poisoning, however; gastroenteritis and organ failure have been known in some people and some people can actually die from food poisoning! Although this is rare in most healthy people, those of us who are elderly, ill or pregnant are particularly susceptible, as are children and babies.
Over the next few posts, I am going to investigate food poisoning in detail, as part of national campaign to spread knowledge and understanding of the principles behind food hygiene. Although all the information provided will be up to date and accurate, it cannot be used as part of a food hygiene training course for businesses; this must be done officially and independently. That said, the training courses can be done online if you find the right companies
